Naulakha Temple: A Story of Loss, Faith, and a Legacy That Deserves to Be Heard
In the peaceful town of Deoghar, at FPG5+W55, Karnibad, Deoghar, Jharkhand 814143, stands the divine Naulakha Temple. This is not just a temple. It is a deeply emotional story of loss, faith, and transformation that deserves to reach every corner of the country.
A Story That Begins With Loss
Srimati Charusila Dasi, known as the Queen of Pathuria Ghat in Calcutta, once lived a life of dignity. But tragedy struck when she lost her husband, Sri Akshoy Kumar Ghosh. Soon after, her only son also passed away in a tragic horse cart accident.
Within a short span, her entire world collapsed. No family, no support, only grief and silence.
A Journey Towards Meaning
In search of peace, she left her home and began a spiritual journey that brought her to Deoghar. Here, she met Sri Balanand Brahmachari.
Seeing her in pain, he asked her the reason. After hearing her story, he guided her to turn her sorrow into something meaningful, something that would give her life a new purpose.
When Pain Turned Into Purpose
Inspired by his words, Charusila Dasi decided to build a temple. Construction began in 1936 and was completed in 1944.
Around nine lakh silver coins were used to build it. This is how the temple got its name Naulakha, meaning nine lakh. Every stone of this temple reflects her faith, strength, and emotional journey.
A Place That Feels Different

Today, the temple stands as a peaceful spiritual space dedicated to Sri Gopal. The calm surroundings and divine atmosphere make it a place where visitors can truly connect with themselves.
Located near the sacred Baidyanath Dham, it adds to the spiritual importance of Deoghar. Yet, many people across India are still unaware of its powerful story.
From Neglect to Revival
For nearly 30 years, the temple remained neglected and slowly faded from public attention.
A major turning point came on 6th September 2017, when a new chapter began. After stepping in, Mr. Pinaki Ghosh worked actively towards reviving the temple.
Through his continuous efforts and dedication, he successfully brought in a donation of ₹1 crore for the temple’s restoration and development. This was not just a donation, but a result of his hard work and commitment to preserving this legacy.
This moment marked the beginning of the temple’s revival and brought it back into public focus.
The Man Who Shared This Story
This powerful story has reached us today because of Pratap Ghosh. Coming from a business background and holding a B.Com degree, he chose to bring this hidden history forward.
